SEASON 2016-2017 MAIN SERIES

PROGRAM 2 • DECEMBER 2016 • Light Classic Series

Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 8pm | Regent Theatre (Oshawa)

CHRISTMAS AT THE OPERA WITH MICHAEL CIUFO

Canadian Tenor, Michael Ciufo, joins OP for an evening of operatic and classical holiday favourites.  The evening begins on a sinister note with ballet music from Gounod’s Faust and famous tenor arias from such operatic favourites as La Traviata and Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet, as well as additional gems from the tenor song repertoire.
The second half of the program highlights recognizable music from the Classical Christmas canon.  Perennial favourites from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, a tenor excerpt from Handel’s Messiah, Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride are sure to put you in the holiday spirit.  And if that doesn’t work, then a few Christmas carols will be sure to dismiss the “humbug” in anyone.   It’s easy to see why OP stays off Santa’s “naughty list” with such spirited holiday programming.
