A WORD ON THE PANDEMIC 2022
by Music Director Marco Parisotto
Dear OP audience and friends:
The Ontario Philharmonic, the orchestral world and, in general, performance artists of all types have endured serious challenges during this worldwide pandemic. Concert activity has been ground to a halt for over one year already, causing much hardship to so many individual artists, orchestras, opera houses, festivals and other organizations. And above all, you - our audience, classical music-lovers, enthusiastic supporters - have not been able to enjoy the great music and artists you appreciate so much in live on-stage performances.
Finally, there is reason to be optimistic as the process of vaccination is underway around the globe.
A return to normal concert activity is, however, still months away. Meanwhile, before you, our dear audience, and we can actually get back together experiencing live music, palpably listening to and living and performing the great symphonic, operatic and chamber works we so love profoundly, we are adapting with virtual events presented on social media.
With this in mind, we have organized a fabulous Online Concert Season for 2021. I would like to sincerely thank the following soloists who are so kindly lending their fantastic talents for several virtual concerts in 2021 for the Ontario Philharmonic. Beyond this Online experience, these musicians will be performing for you live on stage as of 2022 with Ontario Philharmonic, when we all hope and expect the pandemic crisis to be mitigated and tamed to the point of allowing us all to safely get back to a normal way of life.
My heart-felt gratitude to:
• Aljoša Jurinić, piano soloist
• Sheng Cai, piano soloist
• Beatriz Boizan, piano soloist
• Esther Yoo, violín soloist
• Cesar Delgado, lyric tenor
• Aldo Delgadillo, organ/piano soloist
• Etsuko Kimura, Ontario Philharmonic concertmaster
• And all the musicians, staff and Board of Directors of the Ontario Philharmonic
Thank you all!
Marco Parisotto,
Music Director | Ontario Philharmonic
